Mein Eye Institute Moves Forward Toward 2027 Construction
Permit development is underway for Mein Eye Institute, with construction set to begin in January 2027 and completion targeted for August 2027. The new facility will support TEAM’s clinical, educational, and ophthalmology initiatives, with a groundbreaking ceremony planned for this fall.
Mein Eye Institute is taking significant steps toward the realization of its state-of-the-art facility, with permit development currently underway. The project remains on track, with construction projected to begin in January 2027 and a target completion date of August 2027.
Once completed, the new facility will serve as a cornerstone for TEAM’s clinical, educational, and ophthalmology initiatives, advancing its mission to deliver cutting-edge eye care and foster innovation in the field.
To mark this milestone, a groundbreaking ceremony is in the works. The Board of Directors has directed leadership to begin planning for the event, along with community outreach efforts, this fall. These initiatives aim to engage stakeholders and build excitement around the Institute’s future impact.

Neuro-Ophthalmology — Francisco Sanchez, MD
Dr. Francisco R. Sanchez Moreno, a seasoned ophthalmologist with 11-20 years of experience, brings expertise in neuro-ophthalmology to TEAM. A graduate of Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas, Dr. Sanchez is passionate about mentoring the next generation of ophthalmologists and neurologists. His collaborative approach and openness to feedback make him a valued addition to the TEAM family.Oculoplastics — Armin Avdic, MD
Dr. Armin Avdic is a highly skilled oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgeon serving South Texas. With a background in biomedical engineering and a medical degree from the University of Iowa, Dr. Avdic completed his ophthalmology residency at LSU New Orleans, where he also served as Chief Resident. His ASOPRS fellowship training in San Antonio equips him to provide advanced aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries for the eyelids, orbit, and face.
